As soon as telephones were freely available
to the general public phone sex began, although in the early days of
telephone use no one would admit to it as sex was very much a taboo
subject. However as the years went by into the 1960’s people became
slightly more open minded about sex and their own sexuality, although
it was not usually talked about in the open.
Phone sex began to increase though at a steady rate with people starting
to travel more and the increased numbers of men and women joining the
armed forces. People would call their loved ones while travelling and
because they missed and longed for each other their conversation would
lead to sex.
In the 1960’s to the 1970’s phone sex was usually between
couples, married or not and because sex was becoming less of a taboo
it was increasing rapidly. More and more couples were staring to enjoy
having phone sex fun and the average ages of those people were starting
to broaden as well.
Towards the end of the 70’s small phone sex services started to
appear providing phone sex chat to those people who were wanting some
no strings sexual fun with women who were very women minded and who
would talk about sexual activities that were still quite taboo. With
the introduction of page three girls in newspapers and adult magazines
being introduced such as Playboy and Hustler these phone sex services
now had scope for media advertising.

This was when the phone sex business really took off and started to
boom, offering phone sex to all over 18 years old. However some of these
phone sex companies were very unprofessional and were scrupulously mistreating
or misleading their callers and taking advantage.
Because of this a governing body called I.C.S.T.I.S was formed and was
funded by the industry to regulate all the phone sex companies and their
services. They laid down regulations for all companies to follow and
fines for those companies who ignored the new rulings.
With I.C.S.T.I.S monitoring the growing businesses it began to boom
even more. More and more women became phone sex operators to keep up
with the increase in callers. People as a whole were becoming very relaxed
about sex and sex before marriage was no longer so shocking.
As the 1990’s came people around the world were using their phones
even more and the internet really took off. This not only made it easier
for people around the world to communicate but also the phone sex services
had a new place to advertise. Giving people with more unusual fetishes
a place to find a service which supplied services for their needs.
Phone sex now at this day and age is the norm for most couples, being
seen as another way of exploring each other when ever apart. Also with
the steady increase in divorce and more people staying single for longer
the need for such services are still increasing. The steady monitoring
from I.C.S.T.I.S is now insuring that the phone sex companies are run
well and professional giving excellent service to their callers and
at reasonable prices.
